Authorities identify truck driver killed in sand pit accident at Hallett Materials

February 2, 2018

Authorities have recovered the body of a truck driver found submerged in a sand pit at Hallett Materials quarry near Dunlap – in a report by The Daily Nonpareil.

The driver, Christopher McMullen, died after the loaded truck weighing 166,000 pounds entered the icy sandpit.

According to officials, the 38-year-old from Madeila was travelling northbound on a private road and intended to turn east at the dumpsite. It failed to make the turn and drove over a dirt berm, down an embankment and then submerged into a sand pit with water and ice in it.
