A miner was killed while working at a quarry near Birdsboro in Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. A report by WFMZ TV News says rescue crews were dispatched to H&K Quarry in Robeson Township in response to a man trapped in a conveyor belt approximately 50 feet above the ground.
According to officials, 29-year-old Brent Cosner, of Colebrookdale Township, was found already dead before emergency personnel arrived.
Chuck Mavin, a neighbour, says: "It's just a freak accident. Never happened before and I doubt it'll ever happen again, but you know, accidents do happen."
The crews disassembled multiple frame components of the conveyor to free Cosner in an operation which officials described as "a very difficult task in an extremely challenging environment."
