Dump truck overturns and kills driver in Pennsylvania

A dump truck driver was killed in Pennsylvania when his vehicle overturned and crashed into a telephone pole, south of Twining Bridge Road. According to Bucks Local News: “Police said Zafer Akar, 33, was driving south on Swamp Road around 11 a.m. when the tri-axle truck, loaded with crushed stone, overturned. The truck impacted a Peco telephone pole knocking out power to the area.”

The report says Swamp Road was closed until 9.30pm, while detectives, accident reconstruction/MCSAP officers carried out an investigation. Newtown Township Police Department investigators were assisted by Newtown Township Fire Department, Northampton Township Fire Police, the Newtown Ambulance Squad, Bucks County Coronor’s Office, Pennsylvania State Park Rangers and Bucks County Community College Security. Peco crews were also at the scene to restore power.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
