Caterpillar is boosting grading efficiency with its new integrated and mastless Cat GRADE package with 3D.
The new GRADE package has been designed to deliver improved accuracy and productivity, but without the need for potentially vulnerable GPS masts on the machine.
Customers can specify what they need, so that the package is installed and calibrated at the factory … and it can also be retrofitted to existing machines. Retrofit kits are available for M-Series graders from Caterpillar.
Integrating a GPS system into the machine also eliminates the risk of damage or theft of the components involved says Cat. This has been a problem with antennae and receivers. Also, in the past, fitting and removing the units each day also reduced available working time. Old fashioned non-integrated masts limited blade motion and restricted machine usage in certain applications.
The GNSS antenna/receiver units are now fitted on the cab and front chassis, boosting both durability and productivity. Another benefit is the E-Fence tool, which prevents the blade from hitting the tyres or ladder and also prevents potential damage to the link bar.
These new integrated and mastless systems are being offered on the latest 140, 150 and 160 model graders.
