Safety first with efficient new Vacuworx RSC Series

March 12, 2020

Vacuum lifting specialist Vacuworx says it has significantly enhanced the safety and efficiency features on the US company’s flagship RC Series. The lifters are now “smarter” by incorporating a CAN (Controller Area Network) bus system to provide real-time diagnostics to reduce downtime and boost efficiency levels.

Commonly used in passenger vehicles and other equipment, a CAN bus allows internal devices to communicate with each other without a host computer. Using a central logic controller, the system monitors for faults and quickly diagnoses problems. The new dashboard gauge on one side of the lifter shows error codes, oil and fuel levels, pressure levels, number of lifts and engine hours. The logic controller increases safety by ensuring that the electronic components are operating correctly.

The adapter that connects the RC unit to the host machine (everything from a mini excavator to a loader) now features removable top caps. The installer can also position and secure the adapter connecting pin more easily. Standard pin size is 110mm, but the adapter will also accommodate pin sizes down to 50mm using bushings. Vacuworx also offers an adapter for 120mm pins and larger.

A flow control block has been incorporated into the adapter to allow for more safe and convenient adjustment of the hydraulics. This puts the flow controls within easy reach, rather than higher up on the arm of the excavator.

Vacuworx, which is 20-years old this year, has also replaced the traditional gear box with a belt drive to provide longer service life and drastically reduce repairs. There is virtually no maintenance required, according to the company. The belt drive is environmentally friendly with no oil to replace and keeps the engine bay cooler.
