Cemex says the US Geological Survey (USGS) has identified its Balcones Quarry in Texas and FEC Quarry in Florida as two of the top crushed stone production operations in the US.
Cemex was also ranked sixth overall in the US as a company for crushed stone production volume.
USGS statistics rated the Balcones Quarry first in the nation in terms of its crushed stone production based on the latest volume figures from 2016.
According to Cemex, Balcones processes more than 10 million tonnes of limestone to aid construction projects across Texas.
The company recently completed a wildlife habitat education centre on the grounds of the operation which includes 17 acres of restored prairie, pollinator gardens and meadows with native plants to promote conservation and sustainability. In addition, a water recycling facility was commissioned at the quarry with the intention of reducing annual water consumption by nearly 90%.
The FEC Quarry came third for crushed stone production operations. The site processes more than eight million tonnes annually and provides aggregates for new buildings and infrastructure across Florida.
FEC produces seven different nominal sizes of aggregate and five types of manufactured screenings.
