Cemex is supplying special cement for the construction of Deepspot, a diving pool in Poland which is said to be the deepest and largest in the world.
The special cement is expected to allow the project’s contractor Budokrusz to produce two classes of structural concrete for the construction of the diving pool’s foundation plate.
Cemex says this type of cement works well for the construction of concrete elements and structures in hydrotechnical construction as well as to produce concrete for underground construction.
Rafa? Gajewski, Cemex commercial development director in Poland, says the CEM III/A 42,5 N NA LH HSR special slag-based cement features “a low alkali, low heat of hydration, high sulfate resistant, and lower CO2 footprint.”
The pool will be 45 meters deep and accommodate 8,000 cubic meters of water—27 times more water than a standard 25-meter pool. It will feature a special underwater tunnel to allow visitors to observe training at its depths. Deepspot will be available to the public and will serve as an attraction to professional and novice drivers as well as those interested in free or breath holding diving.
Deepspot is scheduled to open in Autumn 2019 in Mszczonow, near Warsaw.
