JCB’s line-up of improved tracked excavators includes the new JS360, JS260 and JS220, which are said to offer improved fuel efficiency of 11% (JS220) and 8% (JS260 and JS360).
In the demonstration area,
The two C Series wheeled loaders on the stand, the W190C and W270C, share New Holland’s SCR technology. The W300C in the demonstration area and the W270C feature the Flat Bottom Bucket.
Building on the introduction of the F Series wheeled loader range last year,
Equipped with Tier 4 Interim engines, the loaders use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with AdBlue to cut emissions, and are said to offer up to 15% lower fuel consumption versus the previous series.
Case will also highlight its CX250C crawler excavator and the larger CX370C, each powered by new low emission Tier 4 Interim engines.
Northern Ireland-based
It has been designed for a wide range of applications including quarrying, and allows feeds to be controlled through use of a surge feeder. The driver can deposit loads of up to 9m³, which are then conveyed for crushing and screening (see also Equipment Update).
Anaconda says it is holding back until Hillhead on announcing its new product, which “puts us more in the mainstream screening game,” but joining the FTR 150 will be the “best-seller” DF tracked scalping screen and the SR410 conventional screen.
The
HAULING/CONVEYORS
Bell Equipment offers “a glimpse of the future” with the unveiling of its E-Series ADT, planned to go into production in 2013. The 30tonne B30E on show shares the stand with a selection of Bell’s current D-Series ADTs.
Doosan’s new DA40 articulated dump truck, the largest model in the new family of Doosan ADTs, has permanent six-wheel drive for equal power distribution while the free-swinging rear tandem bogie and the special articulation system ensure rough and soft terrain capabilities.
The 30tonne Liebherr TA 230 Litronic ADT will be seen in the UK for the first time. It has a transport width of under 3m and a 19m³ dump body volume.
Volvo Construction Equipment’s Red Dot design award-winning Volvo A40F articulated hauler will also be on show.
Launches include the 21m-long HF 521 hopper feeder with an integrated diesel engine for all functions and a 15m³ hopper for medium-large wheeled loaders; 20m-long TC 420 (the newest model in its tracked stockpiling conveyor range, specified for 0-400tonnes/hour at -100mm material) and wheeled Link Conveyor for operation in quarries, mines, ports and stockyards.
CRUSHING AND SCREENING
The Powerscreen Chieftain 2100X at Hillhead features Dual Power, offering a choice between diesel and electric power, while the Warrior 800 multi-purpose incline two-deck screen is capable of stockpiling, three-way splitting or scalping before and after crushing units. The Warrior 1400X scalper is set to take the place of the Warrior 1400, offering approximately 15% fuel reduction over its predecessor.
The Warrior 2400 is capable of handling larger feed sizes and output potentials of up to 800tonnes/hour.
Stelex offer mobile or static models with capacities from 250-1,500tonnes/hour and a maximum feed size of up to 1,500mm. The trommel is said to be ideal for cleaning difficult materials along with high aggregate recovery and sizing including rip-rap.
Hillhead will see the UK debut of the fully self-contained
The Lokotrack LT106,
Using a Cat 224kW Tier4/Tier3 engine, improved hydraulic system and larger flywheel mass, it claims 30% less fuel use, and houses Metso’s C106 jaw crusher, with a large feed opening of 1,060mm x 700mm (42’’ x 28’’). New features include an analog material sensor for continuous choked feed and active setting control (ASC) for safe crushing of recycled materials and slag.
Sandvik Construction will highlight some of its product range and unveil of some “exciting new developments.”
Among equipment on the stand will be the UJ440 cone crusher; QE440 scalping screen; Sandvik QA331 tracked three-way split screen; QE140 track-mounted scalping screen and the Sandvik QJ341 mobile jaw crusher (the upgraded version of its best-selling QJ340 mobile jaw crusher).
Also on display will be the Sandvik QJ241, a state-of-the-art tracked jaw crusher and the QH331 track-mounted cone crusher, based on its predecessor, the QH330.
In the demonstration area will be the QI240 mobile impact crusher along with the QJ341 feeding a QH440 mobile cone crusher, which will then feed the crushed material for sizing to a QA450 triple-deck double-screen.
The Terex MC1000 cone module from
The modules are designed to fit and work together interchangeably.
On the
It offers the facility to infinitely vary the gap between individual shafts by means of a hydro-mechanical control system. This means that the granular size of screened product can be determined at the touch of a button.
Tesab will launch its new 1200TC tracked mobile cone crusher model to complete the range of crushing and screening equipment offered by the manufacturer. The 1,200mm-diameter cone crusher can accept up to 250mm feed size and has a reduction ratio of up to 16:1. The Tesab working area will include the 1012TS impact crusher with pre-screen feeding a Trackstack 8042T tracked conveyor.
WEIGHING
RDS Technology’s new Loadmaster iX range of on-board weighing instruments for wheeled loaders have additional standard features, while the range also offers effective management of weighing data.
The Loadmaster 8000iX’s integral SD card port offers fast transfer of data between loader and weighbridge or office PC while the on-board Loadmaster 9000i weighing scale when fitted to a wheeled loading shovel “effectively transforms the loader into a mobile weighbridge.”
The new WEIGHLOG 10 on-board weighing system can be used for truck loading or check weighing.
DUST SUPPRESSION
TowerLight, alongside its sister division DF Ecology, is exhibiting examples from its lighting and dust suppression range including products from its Dust-fighters range which produce a fine mist of water through a series of high-pressure jets with the spray propelled onto the site by a powerful fan, covering a wide area in just a few moments.
WASHING
Terex Washing Systems (TWS), on a joint stand with England and Wales dealer DUO, will exhibit its latest products including the Aggwash AW60-2 mobile wash plant and the new FM 200C static and recovery unit.
DEWATERING
Weir Minerals will have four pumps on display including its recently-launched Warman WGR, a state-of-the-art slurry pump featuring innovations that make maintenance quick and easy to perform.
A new generation heavy-duty slurry pump, the Warman WBH builds on “the success of the Warman AH slurry pump”, and adds a dozen separate enhancements to the design to help optimise performance, power usage, wear life and ease of maintenance.
Two Warman submersible pumps, the SJ and the SHW, the heaviest duty Warman submersible pump, will also be shown along with processing equipment including screens, valves, hoses and a separating cyclone.

SERVICES
US-headquartered McLanahan Corporation has opened its first European office in the UK, and will exhibit at Hillhead 2012 on stand P75 for the first time.
The company says that for over 177 years it has developed a reputation throughout North America for its “excellence and innovation in manufacturing equipment” for the mineral and construction materials industries.
It designs and manufactures heavy-duty equipment, including processing and sampling equipment for the mineral and aggregate industries. It also manufactures polymer wear parts and provides complete foundry and machining services.
“With the opening of its office in south-east England, the company now provides European customers with direct service and support,” says McLanahan.
As a first time exhibitor at Hillhead, the company will showcase its wide range of services and capabilities through a display of 3-D models, which replicate McLanahan equipment and systems used in crushing, scrubbing, processing sand, contaminant removal and water and fines management.
“With sales and engineering representatives from the UK office and members of the global process engineering group attending the show, McLanahan will be able to answer customer questions regarding its mineral and aggregate processing capabilities and expertise.”
