Breedon Group’s plans to extend a Lincolnshire, central England quarry by 120 acres in a bid to gain access to 1.7 million tonnes of limestone has been recommended for approval. A proposal for South Witham Quarry submitted to Lincolnshire County Council said operations would take between eight and 11 years to complete at the site, situated on the Lincolnshire-Rutland border. The council was due to vote on the application at a planning committee meeting today (31 July 2017).

CRH, the international building materials group, has announced that Maeve Carton, group transformation director, has informed the directors of her intention to retire from the Board and from CRH on 31 August 2017. Since joining CRH in 1988, Maeve held a number of senior financial roles prior to joining the Board as finance director in May 2010. She was appointed group transformation director in January 2016.
