Ecocem has opened its first bulk import terminal in the UK.

The Irish company partnered with Peel Ports to open the terminal at Runcorn Docks on the Manchester Ship Canal, north-west England.

Ecocem invested £2 million (€2.5 million) in the project.

A further £2 million has been set aside to fund an increase in capacity.

Ecocem produces low-carbon cement at a plant at Dublin Port, Ireland.

The volume of supply of rock and aggregate materials on the Russian domestic market exceeded 25.68 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2016.

South Africa-based Burgh Plant Hire has become the first customer to place an order for not just one but three of the new Volvo A60H articulated haulers unveiled last week at bauma 2016 in Munich.

Tanzania Portland Cement Company (TPCC) achieved a 3% year-on-year net profit rise in 2015 to TZS 56.2 billion (US$ 25.76 million). TPCC's profit grew thanks to a very encouraging 22% increase in sales. The Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) has reported a healthy NGN 13.04 billion (US$65.49 million) turnover for 2015.
