The UK’s CEA (Construction Equipment Association) has been given support to run UK Pavilions at both bauma China, Shanghai (25-28 November 2014) and bCIndia, New Delhi (15-18 December 2014). In addition, the UKTI Trade Show Access Programme (TAP) will offer exhibitor grants of £2,500 per eligible UK exhibitor.

The CEA says it will offer fully fitted stands under the UK banner at both these events, in excellent locations within the exhibition centres with stand packages will be available in early 2014.

Weir Minerals has strengthened its presence in Scandinavia with the addition of a dedicated service centre at a site in Gällivare, north Sweden.

The new facility, which will provide enhanced support to customers across the region, is based alongside an existing manufacturing site operated by Gema Industri, the Swedish mine servicing business acquired by Weir Minerals in 2012.

Cemex, is part of a consortium providing over 550,000m3 of ready-mix concrete for the first phase of what will be Malaysia’s largest infrastructure project, the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system.

This summary of the industry’s sustainable development performance in 2012 is supplemented by commentaries which provide an indication of activities in 2013. This includes examples of areas where further action and progress is required.

LSR Group is acquiring 100% in the Gazstroy company, which controls the Ryabovo Ceramic Plant in the Leningrad region.

The business centres of the holding company are to be part of the payment for the asset. As well as obtaining control over Gazstroy, the group is to get the licence to develop the Krasny Latysh clay quarry with proven reserves to last for 30 years.

After the deal the group is to produce about 450 million bricks a year in the Leningrad region and the St Petersburg and the Moscow region

Grafton Group is joining the FTSE 250 as announced by the exchange on 12 December 2013. Earlier in 2013, the Anglo-Irish building materials producer and retailer took the decision to join the London, England, listing and leave the Irish Stock Exchange.

French construction materials group Lafarge is to exploit a clay quarry in Roullet from 2014. The Berguille site is located less than 10km from Lafarge's factory in La Couronne.

Clay will be extracted from the 23.6hectare site for cement production over a period of 15 years. The Berguille site will gradually replace supplies from the clay quarry in Nersac.

It has been reported in the Oman media that FLSmidth has signed a contract with Oman Cement Company (SAOG) for supply of equipment and machinery for a cement plant in Oman.

FLSmidth confirms that this information is correct. If and when down payment is received and the contract becomes binding, the company says it will immediately inform the market.
