"Sand is a key product worldwide but with natural sand deposits becoming depleted, more and more customers are turning to manufactured sand products, so the demand for VSI crushers is growing," said Metso general manager Jason Talbot. "Being able to carry out that type of crushing using a mobile unit allows quarries to have more flexibility.
"Rock on rock crushing offers the lowest cost per tonne production and also offers the best particle shapes, so putting a VSI unit on tracks makes good sense as it gives customers the full range of crushing systems in either fixed or mobile units," said Talbot.
The 275tonne per hour unit has a 66mm maximum intake which is fed via a 5m3 hopper. The Cat 13 powered unit uses a direct hydraulic drive to remove the need for V-belts and enables a fully adjustable speed, which is automatically controlled.
