The new-generation LT120 model crushing plants will be used to crush 6-7 million tonnes of aggregates on a demanding project schedule.
The earthquake and tsunami caused significant sinking of the ground level in several coastal areas in the northern part of Honshu island. Before new construction works can begin, the level has to be raised by several meters with aggregates.
The Lokotrack crushing plant fleet is operated by Shimizu, a major Japanese civil engineering and general contracting company specializing in post-tsunami civil works planning and execution. The LT120s were sold by Metso's Japanese distributor UBE Machinery Co. Ltd., who will also take care of the service and parts related tasks.
Six Lokotrack LT120 jaw plants being delivered to Japan represent Metso's new-generation mobile crushing plants that combine high capacity, safe operation and low fuel consumption.
“Our new-generation Lokotrack LT120 jaw plant is a high-capacity primary plant that, depending on the feed material, is able to produce over 400tonnes of crushed materials on a continuous basis. This unit is ideal for jobs requiring big production volumes,” says Timo Nakari, Metso's senior vice president of Mobile Equipment Business unit.
“After 30 years of serial production and over 7,000 manufactured units, Metso's Lokotrack range, consisting of over 25 basic models, carries a solid reputation in the marketplace. Through the years, Lokotrack has become a generic term for any mobile plant.”
The Lokotracks are being manufactured at Metso's crusher works in Tampere, Finland, and will be delivered to Japan soon. At the sites in the Tohoku region, the LT120's will be operated as single units, producing 0-200mm aggregates for landfill.
The Lokotrack LT120 is built around the proven C120 jaw crusher. With its 1,200 x 870mm feed opening, the jaw accepts even large-sized boulders as feed material. The LT120 weighs 60tonnes and is powered by a 314kW CAT C13 diesel motor.
All Lokotrack units delivered to Shimizu will be equipped with Metso's new boom and hammer combination for easy and safe clearing of any blockages.
