More than 850 exhibitors, including 275 from overseas, drew thousands to the 8th edition of Excon, South Asia’s largest construction equipment and technology fair.

The five-day event staged at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre in Bengaluru, south India included the latest equipment models in earthmoving, road construction, tipper trucks and concrete. There were also large scale displays of newer crushing, screening and sand washing equipment by Indian and foreign manufacturers.

Major south India-based crushing equipment manufacturer Puzzolana Machinery Fabricators showed its new range of track mounted cone, jaw and screens.

Puzzolana’s new 500tonnes/hour, 5.2m x 1.53m, triple deck mobile screen, the PTS 1552-3, can accommodate feed size of 150mm. The unit is driven by an Ashok Leyland 80kW diesel electric unit. It comes with 1000mm belt width main and fine size tail conveyor, 650mm belt width mid fine size conveyor. Track width of the conveyor is 400mm.

Powered by a 280kW 395 Caterpillar 3406 diesel electric drive engine, the PTC 1125, Puzzolana’s new 265tonnes/hour cone crusher, comes with 260mm opening feed and 5000mm x 2375mm hopper. Puzzolana’s new PTJ 1176, 250 tonnes/hour mobile jaw crusher with 1100mm x 760mm chamber, was on display. Like the PTC 1125, the PTJ 1176 is powered by a Caterpillar 3406 diesel electric drive engine.

Another south India-based manufacturer, Proman Infrastructure Services, showed its new ‘Projaw’ 5040 cone crushers with feed opening of 1250mm and feed opening depth of 100mm. It can accommodate feed size of 900mm with output at 760tonnes/hour. Proman also displayed new Procone 5010 cone crusher.

R.S. Raghavan, managing director of Proman, said: “The 5010 is a rugged and flexible machine that can be accommodated as a secondary unit for a large capacity, 400 tonnes per hour, three-stage plant, or as a tertiary fine cone for a two-stage crushing plant to produce 200 tonnes per hour of 0-20 mm aggregates, or around 280 tonnes per hour of 0-40 mm aggregates.”

Proman also showed its new 1530 vertical shaft grinder for producing manufactured sand from steel slag. Raghavan said: “We will be commissioning two new units at steel plants in the Bellary region in Karnataka for producing manufactured sand.” Proman has previously sold a Proman VSG 350 to Indian private steel producing major JSW, where it is used to produce slag sand.

During the 25-29th November 2015 exhibition, 6550 Wirtgen India displayed its new 435 Kleemann Mobiscreen MS 953 EVO track screen plant. Manufactured at its Pune production facility, the plant features a triple deck 1550mm x 6100mm (width x length) vibration screen. It can accommodate feed size of 150mm and feed capacity of 500tonnes/hour. The plant comes with 8cm hopper. The MS 953 EVO is powered by a 90kW diesel hydraulic drive engine.

Ramesh Palagiri, managing director of Wirtgen India, said: The screens come with 70% localised contents to make the product cost competitive. We will be looking forward to manufacture our complete range of cone and jaw tracked crushers at our Pune plant by 2018.”

Making its maiden participation in Excon 2015 in a bid to make foray into fast growing, Indian crushing and screening sector, 4719 ThyssenKrupp Industries India displayed its Kubria cone, single toggle jaw crusher and Multirok vertical shaft impactors.

Siva Subramanian, managing director of ThyssenKrupp Industries India, said: “Our sturdy, high capacity Kubria cone crushers will be offered for hard rock crushing, with core diameter options ranging from 900mm to 1300mm for ballast and chippings. The crusher will find application in natural rock, gravel industries, ore mining, ore crushing in metallurgical plants, lime and cement industries.”

Subramanian added: “Our Kubria rugged, low weight single toggle jaw crushers  are available in three sizes , with throughput rates ranging up to 600 tonnes per hour for quarrying, ore mining and the recycling industry. Our Multirok vertical shaft impactors, capable of 120-400 tonnes per hour, are tertiary crushers for production of high grade chippings or crushed sand from hard rock such as basalt, granite, diorite and gravel.”

Propel Industries, another southern India-based firm, displayed it’s new two-deck AVSS 1845 2D dual Pro Screen at the Excon 2015.

Senthil Kumar, Propel’s managing director, said: “Propel dual sand screens are designed for screen cuts of 35 microns to 2 inches. Rapid changing of screen mats and elimination of clogging is guaranteed by the unit with boltless attachments of polyurethane mats. To achieve the final products, the 13 inch white mats offer greater flexibility in turning the screen, resulting in lower replacement costs.”

Propel also showed its new Eco Wash 200tonnes/hour plant, and 200tonnes/hour Propel Pro Wash hydro cyclone washing plant for applications including forms of concrete, mortar and asphalt sands, quarry dust , crushed fines, lakes and beach sands, filter bed sands, recycled materials, coal and dredged materials. Propel Ecowash is capable of 100-150tonnes/hour for washed sand applications. The firm also displayed its Pro Air Classifier for manufacturing sand through the dry process at Excon.
