The Dutch company BAM has sold its plant in Zuidbroek to Betonfabriek Vrijenban. The plant made prefabricated concrete elements before being closed in 2015, and the sale relates to the real estate. The companies did not disclose financial details.

Iran's annual cement production is likely to fall by around 12% compared to fiscal year 2014/2015, according to the secretary of Iran's Cement Industry Employers Association. The country produced more than 61 million tonnes of cement in 2014/2015. However, between 21 March and 21 November 2015 the country's cement production dropped by 10% to 12%. Of the 97 cement kilns at 71 cement plants in Iran, around 30 to 35 are reportedly not working due to technical problems and gas shortage.

Ethiopia is planning to increase its annual total cement production to 27 million tonnes. Currently, the east African nation’s 20 cement plants produce stands at 15.1 million tonnes. The average cement production capacity at the cement plants is 65% of the installed capacity. Ethiopia is looking to increase the capacity to 80%, according to the director of cement and related products industry development, Solomon Yohannes.
