It has been reported that the Chinese company Betec Resources has expressed interest in construction of the new cement factory around Bela Palanka, Serbia. It was said that that a delegation of the Geology Institute visited the potential location for construction of the new plant. However, the potential investment value has not been mentioned.

SAPICO2 (Sustainable Aggregate Production with Imbibed CO2) is a collaborative project being carried out under the European cross-border cooperation programme INTERREG IVA France (Channel) – England, co-funded by the European Regional Development Forum. The project partnership comprises the University of Greenwich and its spin-out production company Carbon8 at Chatham Maritime, England, together with the Université de Picardie Jules Verne at Amiens, France.

Development work has started on a hand-held mineral analyser for mining applications, said to be the first of its kind.
Dr Graeme Hansford from the University of Leicester’s Space Research Centre (SRC) in County Leicestershire, central England, has recently started a collaborative project with Bruker Elemental to develop the analyser.

The project

Ciments de l’Afrique (CIMAF), a Moroccan construction company, will construct a US$83.2 million cement factory in Tema, Ghana’s industrial city.

This follows an agreement signed between the company and the Ghanaian government.

On completion, the factory will have the capacity to produce 1 million tonnes of cement annually, according to CIMAF Ghana, a parent company of the Moroccan construction giant.

According to the Price Management Department in Vietnam, cement output grew by 9.8% year-on-year to 11.58 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2014.

Demand rose by 6.7% to 10.23 million tonnes. Also, demand increased by 69.5% month-on-month to 1.92 million tonnes in March 2014.

Cement production expanded by 63.7% to 5.19 million tonnes.
