Caterpillar VP Phil Kelliher will chair the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 exhibition

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has chosen Caterpillar's vice president Phil Kelliher to chair CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 in Las Vegas.

The AEM says Kelliher is to lead a cross-section of construction equipment leaders to oversee planning of the triannual global gathering place of the construction industry.

Triax Technologies is launching a social distancing and contact tracing Internet of Things (IoT) solution to keep workers safe during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Athabasca Minerals announces $2.7m loss for 2019

Edmonton-based aggregates business Athabasca Minerals Inc (AMI) has released its fourth-quarter and year-end 2019 results with group losses still to the fore.

According to a company statement released this week: “Total losses for the three months ended December 31, 2019 (were) $1.1 million compared with a loss of $0.9 million for Q4 2018.”

And for the full trading years “ended December 31 2019 and 2018, the company incurred total comprehensive losses of $2.7 million and $2.5 million respectively.

Environmental review pushed into next year for Mid-Continent Limestone

The Colorado Bureau of Land Management has delayed the potential start date of an environmental review into the expansion of the Mid-Continent limestone quarry until next year.

“We are looking at sometime in 2021 to begin the (environmental impact statement),” said  a recent statement from BLM Spokesman David Boyd.

The proposed expansion of the Mid-Continent quarry, owned by Rocky Mountain Industrials Inc, has drawn criticism from many residents of the nearby Glenwood Springs area in the past two years.

McMurry uses Kespry platform to boost inventory management

Wyoming-based aggregates producer McMurry Ready Mix has decided to use Kespry's drone-based aerial intelligence platform for inventory management, mine mapping and auditing.

Rob Jongsma, general manager at McMurry, says: “We needed Kespry because of its ability to help us control inventory and ensure it was accurate, so we could manage costs.

"We crush 1.2-1.5 million tonnes of materials a year. We sell approximately that much every year, too.
