Guy Edwards will become the new chief executive officer of UK building materials heavyweight 1707 Aggregate Industries, a member of 8161 LafargeHolcim, in January 2019. Currently CEO of U.S.-based Aggregates & Construction Materials (ACM), LafargeHolcim’s subsidiary in the U.S., Edwards will replace François Petry, who was recently appointed country CEO of Lafarge France and market head for France and Belgium.

With more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry (of which 25 has been spent in the UK market), Edwards has held a variety of senior roles within Aggregate Industries, both in the UK and US. In 2013, he served as a UK executive committee member responsible for European operations and, in 2014, was named chief operating officer for ACM.

Edwards received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Leeds University in England, graduating with honours in 1988. He has also completed the International Leadership Program at the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland.

Speaking about his imminent new role, Edwards said: “I am excited to be coming home to Aggregate Industries UK as the country CEO. Over the last five years I’ve been part of LafargeHolcim’s growth in the U.S. market - today a $2 billion company delivering aggregates, concrete and asphalt/contracting products and solutions. I understand the business, the opportunities and the challenges, and I know that we have here all that is needed to continue on the same successful path: the highest quality product portfolio, and talented, passionate people devoted to making things easier for our customers.

“I thank Francois for his leadership during the last three years and I’m committed to continuing the work that further improves our results and keeps Aggregate Industries as one of the most respected companies in the construction industry, creating value for all our stakeholders; from employees, to customers, partners and communities.”

Edwards replaces François Petry, who, for the last three years, has led the UK subsidiary of LafargeHolcim in driving performance in a market which offers both challenges and great opportunities. In his new role, he will be joining Lafarge France as CEO and Market Head for France and Belgium.

Petry said: “Over the last three years I have had the privilege to work with a great team of dedicated people; true professionals that have a high level of energy and commitment. Together we have been focusing on strengthening Aggregate Industries’ position in the market, by aligning with the LafargeHolcim “Building for Growth” strategy. Successes like the Kendall’s acquisition or the investments into increasing our capacity and the big contracts we have been awarded will allow us to react to the current challenges.

“Aggregate Industries is a company that strives to create added value for its customers and the wider society, so I am confident that Guy will continue to drive performance, while maintaining the same high level of customer service.”
