The California Highway Patrol (CHP) blocked Highway 3 after a gravel truck overturned eight miles south of Highway 299 on 24 October.
A report by Lost Coast Outpost says the rig spilled gravel over the roadway.
Two pickup trucks also crashed in the same scene after they attempted to avoid a dog running in the roadway, CHP adds.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection arrived at the scene and carried out one-way traffic control along the shoulder of the highway.
Additionally, the California Department of Transportation used a plow to clear the road.
