680 Holcim’s Slovakian subsidiary is to invest €25million in two projects at its Rohoznik plant in a bid to improve the environmental operation of the facility.

One project will see the plant developed to allow electricity to be generated from waste heat produced at the site, which the company estimated will create 20GWh of power each year. Holcim has said that this is enough to power one of the cement mills.

The other project involves gaining a patent for its Redudust technology through which the company produces a ‘technical salt’ from waste liquid.
