The Eastern Highways Alliance comprises a group of nine councils: Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Luton, Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Essex and Southend on Sea.
The framework, which will start in May 2012 and run until May 2016 aims to help nine local authorities deliver significant savings.
Tarmac’s National Contracting division is one of four contractors on the framework that will compete for work on schemes including highway improvements, highways works, town centre improvements, drainage and various other infrastructure projects.
The Eastern Highways Alliance award follows on from the recent news that Tarmac is the only company to be selected on all 12 lots of the Highways Agency’s Category Management framework.
The company’s proven expertise in roads, its experience of working on high contracts such as the Midlands Highways Alliance, and its commitment to quality, delivery and value were key factors in securing its place on the framework.
Paul Fleetham, managing director of Tarmac National Contracting and Middle East said: “I’m delighted that Tarmac has been selected for this Framework. This is the latest in a series of major contract wins for Tarmac. It reflects our strong track record of working in collaboration with local authorities to successfully manage, maintain and add value to their highways assets. We will use our expertise to deliver high quality products, advice and services to help the Alliance partners manage their road network and identify value saving opportunities.”
