Caterpillar has officially inaugurated its new parts distribution facility in Kempton Park, near Johannesburg, South Africa. The Johannesburg Distribution Centre (JDC) – a massive 60,000m² facility – consolidates two previous smaller parts distribution sites in Isando. Terex Trucks has appointed CJD Equipment as its official dealer in Australia to support and supply its rigid haulers. Founded in 1974, CJD provides equipment sales, service, and consultation to customers active in agriculture, construction, and mining. The addition of Terex Trucks’ units will enable the company to expand its portfolio and offer customers all four rigid haulers, TR45, TR60, TR70, and TR100, which are manufactured by the Motherwell, Scotland-based company.

Terex MPS has named Gareth Orritt as its new Canica business development manager for the Americas, responsible for developing the sales and distribution of the Canica VSI product range.
He has over 20 years’ experience in the crushing and screening industry, and prior to joining Terex MPS he held product line and sales management positions with the Metso (Barmac) and Sandvik VSI product ranges. Terex MPS provides a complete range of crushing and screening equipment to customers around the world.

After a period of employee consultation, Volvo Construction Equipment has concluded the sale of its Volvo Construction Equipment GB dealership to long-term distribution partner SMT, through its newly-established subsidiary, Services Machinery & Trucks. The sale includes the distribution rights for Volvo-branded construction equipment machines, parts and after-sales in Great Britain

After widening its membership base to include Southern Africa surface mining, quarrying and related operations, representative industry association Aspasa, wants to begin collecting statistics relating to health and safety on its member operations’ sites.
While all serious incidents are required to be reported by law, the association wants to glean further information for its own records in order to identify trends and address recurring problems for a safer working environment.

The UK-based Institute of Quarrying (IQ) continues to build its Nottingham, Central England team with the appointment of a new learning and development officer.

Manisha Morar, 28, joins IQ following six years at KPMG in London, where she worked in human resources, training and learning deployment and development. Her new challenge involves implementing upgrades to IQ’s e-learning courses and learning management system.

Margret Suckale has been appointed a shareholder representative on the Supervisory Board of HeidelbergCement. Suckale succeeds Alan Murray, who had resigned from his position with the German building materials giant. Her appointment term will expire at the next Annual General Meeting of HeidelbergCement on 9 May 2018.
