Monier Limited is upgrading capacity at its Nebiri quarry in Papua New Guinea to meet long term growth targets through a strategic partnership with Metso. The upgrade will include the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of a Metso crushing and screening system with the resulting order, valued at €10.5 million, being included in Metso Mining and Construction's Q3 2013 orders received.

Switzerland has amended its construction product regulations to reflect change in EU law, to avoid any barriers to trade.

Teaming up with building materials company Cemex in its national partnership, the RSPB asked quarry managers to complete a survey of the birds of prey they see at their sites.

An expansion worth €3 million at Condron Concrete Works will generate 20 new jobs in Tullamore in Ireland.

The ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group, Northeim, Hanover, Germany, is strengthening its conveyor belts business for industrial applications with the acquisition of Metso´s industrial conveyor belt operations based in Helsinki, Finland.

Both sides have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Transfer of the business is scheduled for Q4 2013.

Lafarge has sold its cement operations in Honduras to Cementos Argos for a total enterprise value of €435 million (€232 million for the share of Lafarge, which owns 53.3% of its Honduran subsidiary, Lafarge Cementos SA de CV)

This enterprise value represents a 2012 EBITDA multiple of 8.6.

Sold assets comprise an integrated cement plant with a capacity of 1 million tonnes and a grinding station with a 0.3 million tonnes capacity.
