A new event dedicated to the European concrete industry is being held in Paris, France next year.

World of Concrete Europe - Exhibition & Forum will be staged on 22-23 February 2017 at the Palais de Congrès and will comprise an exhibition area and a programme of seminars and round tables.

Organisers are describing it as first event dedicated to the European concrete market, representing an unprecedented platform for information, inspiration and exchange for all industry professionals.

Cement giant LafargeHolcim has published its first Sustainability Report since the merger of French firm Lafarge and Swiss company Holcim.

Cemex has announced the pricing of €400 million of 4.625% Senior Secured Notes due 2024 denominated in Euros (the Notes) of its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Cemex Finance.

The Notes will bear interest at an annual rate of 4.625% and mature on 15June, 2024, and will be

issued at a price of 100% of face value and will be callable commencing on 15 June, 2020.

The closing of the offering is expected to occur on 14 June, 2016, subject to satisfaction of customary closing conditions.

Links between the Institute of Quarrying (IQ) in the UK and the quarrying industry in the USA are continuing to grow stronger following the latest meeting between them which saw agreement reached on new training and development courses launching in October 2016.

Algerian cement firm Gica has reportedly signed two agreements with Chinese company Cmbi, a subsidiary of the Sinoma group.

The agreements will see the building of a new DZD 34 billion (US$308.04 million) 1 million tonnes/year cement plant in Bechar. The Angolan Technical Department for Private Investment (UTIP) has signed an agreement with Chinese company Shaanxi Aoxinang.

It involves the installation of a concrete production plant in Luanda with an investment estimated at US$1 million (€899,979.11).

It is said that the plant, with a capacity of 40,000m³ of concrete, will initially produce some 21,200m³, and will create 140 jobs.
