Unevol is to be Sandvik Construction’s first distributor for drill rigs, rock tools and crushing and screening equipment throughout Cuba.

The company, an established name throughout Cuba, with offices, workshops and service engineers throughout the area, will supply a comprehensive range of Sandvik equipment, and will also be providing full aftermarket care, spare parts and dedicated customer service.

US-based KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens has hired Nate Hicks as a new parts sales development engineer as part of its ongoing strategy to grow its PDQ and OEM parts lines.

Hicks recently relocated from Colorado, where he mostly recent served as a project engineer for Springs Fabrication. He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Metso is axing 44 jobs in its Minerals business in Finland, mostly in Tampere, in response to reduced customer equipment orders. The job losses follow employee negotiations and are down from the 75 jobs originally earmarked to go. An Estonian contracting company is reaching impressive targets using equipment it has acquired through Wihuri, Metso’s new distributor in the country.

“Being a Caterpillar dealer, we have a lot of synergy with Metso, just thinking our role as the manufacturer of diesel engines for all track-mounted units,” says Jan Berkovitch, country manager of Wihuri in Estonia.

Sandvik Construction in Russia has recently supplied the Sinarsky Quarry with a new modular crushing and screening plant.

The plant is being used to expand the company’s aggregates production, aiming to double its capacity to an impressive 1.2–1.8 million tonnes of accurately sized aggregates/year.

The Sinarsky Quarry is located in the Kurgan Region (Urals) of Russia, and it has recently celebrated the new plant becoming fully operational.
