Construction output in Sub-Saharan Africa grew by an estimated 1.7% in 2022, compared to a growth of 3.2% registered in 2021. The industry is forecast to record growth of 3.2% in 2023. However, significant downside risks persist, most notably the rising debt levels across the region, says GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
UK construction equipment sales in 2022 above 2021 levels
UK retail sales of construction and earthmoving equipment continued to show very strong growth at the end of 2022. Sales in Q4 were 20% above the same quarter in 2021, and as a result, sales for the full year were 2.9% above 2021 levels, reaching 37,400 units. By exceeding 2021 levels, which were higher than the peak levels reached in 2018 and 2019, sales in 2022 were the highest since before the financial crash in 2008. As reported in previous updates, this means that last year saw equipment sales at record levels.

ABC: US state construction unemployment down in 32 states from a year ago
The not-seasonally adjusted US construction unemployment rate dropped 0.6% in December 2022 from a year ago, down from 5% to 4.4%, according to a state-by-state analysis of US Bureau of Labor Statistics data released by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).
