Astec has introduced The Source hand-held diagnostic tool that simulates most of the electrical signals coming into an asphalt plant control system. The company says The Source simplifies plant set-up and troubleshooting by providing the user with the ability to simulate components without the need to waste material. Functions include settings to simulate a weighbridge signal; emulate a MBU (manual backup unit) and it also controls the speed of a variable speed drive.

The UK asphalt market is likely to fall by more than 15% in the current year, eliminating the recovery that the industry enjoyed in 2010 and 2011.
