Lehigh Hanson has named the winners of the Foundation of Excellence Awards, an internal programme designed to recognise outstanding business performance during 2018.
The company chose Ocean Concrete’s Granville Island ready mixed concrete plant in Vancouver, British Columbia, as the 2018 Foundations of Excellence Award winner for Environmental Performance.
Lehigh Hanson says the plant has continually applied best practices through water management programmes, sanitation and environmental impact minimisation. These efforts have led to a strong relationship with the public, government and regulatory agencies.
Lowrys Quarry in McConnell, South Carolina, won the 2018 Foundations of Excellence Award winner for Safety & Health. The quarry's safety & health initiatives such as Vehicle Segregation and Stop Work and Take 5 Assessments have been integrated into daily operations.
Lowrys has not had any medical treatment incidents in 12 years and has had no lost-time incidents or fatalities since being owned by Lehigh Hanson, the company adds.
