Cosmos has suspended cement production at its factory in the Spanish municipality of Toral de los Vados until September 2012. Cosmos has suspended cement production at its factory in the Spanish municipality of Toral de los Vados until September 2012.
Following the move, said to be due to decreased demand for cement products, the Spanish firm will focus on cleaning and repair services as well as other activities, such as cement grinding and collecting forest biomass to use as fuel in its ovens.
Cosmos, which has been using forest biomass since 5 June, 2012, expects to collect 2,000-3,000tonnes of biomass. The company said it had no immediate plans to implement a workforce adjustment plan for its 116 workers.
