Steelike has raised $2,000,000 to meet demand for its ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) from customers in the US.
Chen Wang, co-founder at Steelike, says: “This investment round enables Steelike to accelerate its business and serve more and more customers. Demand for Steelike UHPC in construction projects, especially for highway infrastructure, has been growing and now we’ll be able to effectively scale to meet that demand.”

Cemex USA unveils monument and courtyard at hospital in Florida
Cemex USA has unveiled a blue heart-shaped concrete monument and courtyard in appreciation of healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic at Orlando Health—Health Central Hospital in Florida.
Cemex says it donated and poured approximately 15 yards of white concrete for the courtyard and a specialty blue concrete to create the light-blue heart monument as a symbol of support for healthcare workers.

SRMG wins fly ash marketing contract in Utah
Salt River Materials Group (SRMG) has won exclusive rights to market ASTM C618 Class “F” fly ash at electrical provider PacifiCorp's Huntington power plant in Utah.
SRMG says it will install a new beneficiation facility at Huntington, which will allow it to transform the currently non-marketed material into a consistent fly ash product that will meet the needs of the market. The plant is expected to produce an additional 250,000 tonnes of fly ash from Spring 2021.

Astec buys two concrete batch plant companies
Astec Industries has acquired the Concrete Equipment Company (CON-E-CO) and BMH Systems, two full-line concrete batch plant manufacturers serving customers around the world.
The two North American companies had combined annualised sales in 2019 of approximately US$50m. The acquisitions were funded with cash on hand and will be immediately accretive to EPS. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

The ACI says Florida will reference the ACI 562-19 Code Requirements for the Assessment, Repair and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures from 31 December.

SRMG commissions fly ash blending facility in Tuscon
Salt River Materials Group (SRMG) has commissioned a blending facility to expand the availability of "Tuscon Pozzolan" in Southern Arizona.
SRMG says it will use new precision blending equipment to incorporate ASTM C618 Class F fly ash from its supply network with a regionally available ASTM C618 Class N natural pozzolan to create the ASTM C1697 blended product.
