RMIT researchers make 17% stronger concrete with 'sewage-enhanced' steel slag

Researchers at RMIT University, formerly the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia have discovered that steel slag used to treat wastewater can be recycled as an aggregate material for stronger concrete.

The experts have proved that concrete made with post-treatment steel slag was about 17% stronger than concrete made with conventional aggregates, and 8% stronger than raw steel slag.

CEMEX re-starts its Mexico operations

CEMEX has announced that it is resuming operations in Mexico. The company is keen to get back to work and help support the country's economy during the COVID-19 crisis.

The building materials company says the move is being made in accordance with the technical guidelines that were published in the official Mexican Gazette on 6 April.

CEMEX adds that it will fully comply with all the measures indicated by the Ministry of Health, as well as other best practices to operate in a safe and responsible environment.
