Cemex closes Austria and Hungary transaction
Cemex has closed the sale of its operations in Austria and Hungary to the Rohrdorfer Group for approximately €160.1 million.
The transaction was originally announced on 12 August, 2015.
The Austrian operations consist of 24 aggregate quarries (approximately 6.47 million tonnes of aggregates sold in 2014) and 34 ready-mix plants (approximately 1.60 million m³ of ready-mix sold in 2014).
Cemex’s operations in Austria had net sales of approximately US$241 million (€219 million) in 2014.

US$360mn factory for Semen Indonesia
A plant will be constructed by Semen Indonesia (Semen) with up to US$360 million (€327.01 million) in investment.
Work is expected to start some time in 2016, and a local partner has been secured by the company for the project. It is anticipated that some 3 million tonnes of cement will be produced annually by the plant.
At present, Semen Indonesia is examining the prospect of setting up the cement plant in Pidie.
Work on a plant is also being carried out by Semen in Papua, and operation at the US$
South Africa: Much Asphalt buying SprayPave from Basil Read for ZAR 78.6mn
South African construction group Basil Read is selling subsidiary SprayPave (a manufacturer of bituminous road binder) to Much Asphalt for ZAR 78.6 million (€5.16 million/US$5.68 million).
The deal includes ZAR 9.1 million of SprayPave shares; ZAR 24 million for the business of group subsidiary Armac (which owns the property and some plant and equipment assets), and the remainder for sale claims and Basil Read equipment. British Aggregates Association files appeal against EU’s Phase II Aggregates Levy decision
The British Aggregates Association (BAA) has filed an appeal against the recent Phase II Aggregates Levy Decision by the EU Commission. The Decision claimed that only certain exemptions for shale resulted in illegal State aid. The appeal will take place at the General Court in Luxembourg sometime in 2016. BAA lawyers, Herbert Smith Freehills, have requested that the hearing be granted priority treatment due to the extraordinary time it has taken so far.

CNH Industrial Construction Equipment sales down 29.7% in Q3 2015
CNH Industrial Construction Equipment, which includes the Case Construction Equipment brand, saw its net sales drop 29.7% year-on-year on a reported basis in Q3 2015 to €539.93 million ($591million). Italian market sales of construction equipment were up 33% to 5,945 units in the first nine months of 2015 compared to the same period of 2014.

Komatsu, the world’s second-biggest manufacturer of construction and mining machinery after Caterpillar, reported a 19% fall in Q2 2015 profit, Bloomberg reports. As with US construction and mining equipment manufacturing giant Caterpillar, China’s slowdown and the world slump in commodity prices cut sales to the mining and building sectors. Net income in Q2 (July-September) 2015 fell to 32.6 billion yen (US$271 million) for the three months to September 30 from a revised 40.3 billion yen ($334.27 million)
