Continental opens Hamburg-Harburg TechCenter for Hydrogen Technologies

Continental has opened a new TechCenter for hydrogen technologies at its site in Hamburg-Harburg, northern Germany. In the future, the ContiTech group sector will use the TechCenter as a collaborative platform for knowledge exchange in this area. Innovations and the transfer of existing technical solutions for new applications in the field of hydrogen technologies are to be promoted.

Nonresidential US construction spending decreases in May, first time in nearly a year, says ABC

National US nonresidential construction spending decreased 0.2% in May, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) analysis of data published by the US Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualised basis, nonresidential spending totalled $1.06 trillion.

Spending declined monthly in nine of the 16 nonresidential subcategories. Private nonresidential spending fell 0.3%, while public nonresidential construction spending increased 0.1% in May.

Cemex achieves record sales of Vertua net zero CO2 concrete in Colombia

Cemex has reached a sales milestone for Vertua net zero CO2 concrete in Colombia, surpassing 100,000 m3 of this product, enough to fill 40 Olympic-sized swimming pools. This achievement showcases progress towards Cemex's ambitious goal for its Vertua lower-carbon cement and concrete products to reach more than half of all cement and concrete sales by 2025.

Caterpillar celebrates production of the 50,000th Cat wheeled excavator

In 1984, Caterpillar, Eder and Zeppelin Baumaschinen, the Cat dealer in Germany, introduced a new wheeled excavator line, offering four models under the Cat Eder brand. Eight years later, the line became a 100% Cat product with a designated wheel excavator team. Twenty-eight years later, in 2012, Caterpillar celebrated production of its 25,000th wheel excavator. This year, Caterpillar announces production of its 50,000th wheeled excavator, a Cat M318 Next Gen model, adding another 25,000 units to the total in just 11 years.
