Lafarge Industries South Africa agreed to pay a US$19.6 million (€15 million) penalty has after it admitted taking part in a cement cartel.
Rockmore's New Austrian Facility

JCB post record financial results
JCB, the world’s third largest manufacturer of construction equipment, have announced record financial results for 2011. Cement production rises in NW Russia
In 2011, cement production in the north-western federal district of Russia rose by 3.6% year-on-year to 3.6 million tonnes and corresponds to 6.4% of the total cement production in Russia. Over the period, the Leningrad region manufactured 5% of total cement production in Russia.
Atlas Copco's big SA order
Atlas Copco has received one of its largest orders ever in South Africa, to deliver Pit Viper 351 blasthole drilling rigs for a value of around SEK 250 million (€28.3 million) to Kumba Iron Ore, a unit of Anglo American. The equipment will be supplied to the Sishen Mine in Kathu, north-west South Africa. The units are scheduled to be delivered from July 2012, and the last unit should be introduced into productivity in March 2013. The order was received during the first quarter.
Marshalls reports upturn in profits
UK-based landscaping materials specialist Marshalls saw its pre-tax profits increase by 32% to €16.33million in 2011.
Italcementi inaugurates 23,000m² research centre
Italian cement manufacturer Italcementi has inaugurated a new 23,000m² research centre in the technology park of Bergamo, near Milan. The group allocated an annual budget of around €13 million in research and development operations, and has registered a total 60 patents in the last ten years.
