Estonian construction material prices increase

It is claimed that Estonian authorities are setting restrictions on mining sand, gravel and other mineral resources as well as hiking excavation tariffs among other products, forcing up construction material costs. The Statistics of Estonia published construction price index rose 4.7% y/y in the second quarter 2012 and is forecast to continue on a growth trend.

It is claimed that Estonian authorities are setting restrictions on mining sand, gravel and other mineral resources as well as hiking excavation tariffs among other products, forcing up construction material costs.

The Statistics of Estonia published construction price index rose 4.7% y/y in the second quarter 2012 and is forecast to continue on a growth trend.

The mineral sources excavation volume is forecast to reach 79.7 million m³ over the 2010-2020 period.

Estonia will consume yearly 6-8 million m³ of mineral resources from 2011-2020 of which 50-60% is used in public road construction, repairs and maintenance, and 20% for regional road construction and repairs. Of the total excavated resources, 25-30% is used for the production of concrete and other construction mixes.
