ThyssenKrupp to build one of the largest cement plants in Saudi Arabia
ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions in Germany has a contract from Yamama Saudi Cement Co, one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest cement producers, to build two turnkey cement clinker production lines.
The two lines with an overall capacity of 20,000tonnes/day of cement will be built at a new site around 80km east of the capital Riyadh. The value of the contract is said to be in the “higher three-digit million-euro” range. It is the largest cement contract ever secured by Thyssenkrupp.

Cemex UK hands over Lade Pits to RSPB
Leading building materials supplier Cemex UK has handed over Lade Pits, formerly Denge quarry - a unique site equipped with three so-called Sound Mirrors - to the Royal Society for the protection of birds (RSPB). The site in county Kent, England, and its listening devices, which are located next to the existing RSPB Dungeness nature reserve near Lydd, have for many years been an iconic feature on the Kent coast and will now be one of nature’s homes in the region.

Italian antitrust authority open probe into alleged price fixing by four cement makers
Italy's antitrust authority has opened an investigation into four cement makers for alleged price fixing and, with the tax police, has searched the offices of the companies, it said in a statement on Thursday.
The companies under investigation are Buzzi Unicem, Cementir Italia, Industria Cementi Giovanni Rossi and Holcim Italia, the watchdog said.
"The case concerns the possibility of an agreement ... to coordinate cement sales price increases," the antitrust authority added.

Slantsev Cement Plant Cesla in the Leningrad region of Russia, and part of the HeidelbergCement group, plans to upgrade production and continue development of its quarry.
The investments in the project will amount to some RUB 1 billion (€14.45 millionUS$15.38 million).
The plant's range of products includes five kinds of concrete.

France: Infravation select's Eiffage's Biorepavation project
Infravation, a European call for projects, has selected the Biorepavation road recycling project being developed by French company Eiffage as part of an international consortium including Ifsttar; the University of Iowa; the Western Research Institute; Nottingham Transport Engineering Centre, and the Dutch subsidiary of Arizona Chemicals.
The project aims to increase the recycling rate of roads, currently around 40%, to above 50% and even to reach 100%.
