Italy-based Cementir Holding has appointed Giovanni Luise as chief financial officer.

The 59-year-old takes up his appointment with immediate effect at Cementir, which manufactures grey and white cement, ready-mixed concrete, aggregates and concrete products, exporting to 70 countries worldwide.

Luise has held several finance managerial roles at multinational companies in sectors including utilities, pharma, defence industrial business and automobiles.

German-based Sika has acquired the global concrete fibres business from Propex Holding for an undisclosed amount.

The business includes a US plant manufacturing synthetic fibres for use in concrete reinforcement, and sales operations in Sika’s three geographical regions.

With its acquisition of UK industrial minerals company Francis Flower, LKAB Minerals plans to achieve increased visibility in the construction materials sector.

LKAB Minerals, the industrial minerals division of Swedish state-owned iron ore mining group LKAB, says the acquisition (which is subject to regulatory clearance) will strengthen its position as a supplier of materials for the building and construction industry.

IMER Group has signed an agreement to supply concrete manufacturing equipment to Russian construction materials supplier Eurocement. The equipment from Italy-based IMER Group will be used in the production of high quality and reinforced concrete for infrastructure and housing construction projects in Uzebekistan that start from 2019.
