The government of the Kyrgyz Republic plans to put Kurmentycement factory and a limestone field near it up for sale. The company is undergoing bankruptcy proceedings. Its management company is Kar-Kyra.
Semen Indonesia starts work on green cement plant
According to Dwi Soetjipto, managing director of Semen Indonesia, the cement producer has started work on its new cement plant in Rembang.
The green plant, with capacity of 3 million tonnes/year covers 5 hectares, and some 30% of the area around the plant will be used as an open green area.
The environmentally-friendly features of the plant include strict emission control, use of alternative energy as well as lower utilization of electricity and water.
Casimir Lindholm appointed president/CEO of Lemminkäinen
Finnish construction and infrastructure company Lemminkäinen's deputy CEO Casimir Lindholm has been appointed Lemminkäinen Corporation's president and CEO and the chairman of the Executive Team as of 1 August 2014.
Lindholm is currently the executive vice president, building construction in Finland. He will continue in this duty until a new executive vice president has been found.
South Africa: Raubex acquires stake in OMV, Shisalanga Construction
Regulatory approvals for the acquisition of controlling shares in two companies in South Africa have been secured by South Africa-based construction company Raubex.
It has bought a 70% stake in the gypsum operations and another 70% in aggregate crushing and ready-mix concrete operations of Oranje Mynbou en Vervoer (OMV) for ZAR 70.30 million (€ 4.84 million).
The acquisition will take effect from 1 July 2014. Apart from that, a 60% stake in Shisalanga Construction has been acquired by Raubex for ZAR 3
Cemex joins Carbone Local Midi-Pyrénées initiative
In France, Cemex has joined the Carbone Local Midi-Pyrénées initiative aimed at allowing entities to offset their greenhouse gas emissions on a local scale.
The scheme will allow the acquisition of Carbone Local credits from Ecocert. Prior to signing the agreement on 17 June 2014, Cemex contributed to the planting of 500 tree seedlings at its Cugnaux site.
France: aggregates sector down 5.6% in May 2014
France's national union of quarry industries and construction materials (Unicem) reports an activity decline of 3.4% in May 2014, confirming the downward trend witnessed in April.
Ready-mix concrete production was stable at 0.2% in May but down 2.3% compared with May 2013.

Raymond Brown Aggregates has won a new long-term contract for incinerator bottom ash (IBA) processing with one of the UK’s leading recycling, waste management and renewable energy companies.
Raymond Brown was chosen by Viridor to build and operate a new IBA processing facility to produce a secondary aggregate (IBA aggregate) at its new County Oxfordshire plant.

CEMEX UK has completed a £11 million (€13.8 million) deal with Finning UK and Ireland to create the UK’s first integrated equipment management contract at Dove Holes limestone quarry in Buxton, County Derbyshire, England.

Ballast Nedam to sell Ballast Phoenix to H2 Equity Partners
H2 Equity Partners is to acquire Ballast Phoenix, a UK-based aggregates recycling business, from Dutch construction company Ballast Nedam. The £30 million (€37.52 million) sale is expected to be completed by the end of June 2014. Ballast Phoenix processes incinerator bottom ash into construction aggregates.

Nick Allen has been appointed Volvo Construction Equipment Division, Volvo Group UK’s managing director. He joined the dealership in 2010 as chief financial officer having previously worked within Volvo CE’s European sales and marketing function. Producers upbeat about future prospects
Although it was a mixed bag of first-quarter results for the major aggregates and cement producers, company chiefs remain upbeat about prospects.
