Egyptian wind energy to provide power to Suez Cement
The general manager of Suez Cement, Bruno Carre, said a wind energy project in Gulf El-Zeit, Egypt, will provide electricity to the company's manufacturing facilities in Egypt.
However, electricity could only be used in the crushing process since flame and heat will be needed in the cooking process.

The Finnish construction and infrastructure company, Lemminkäinen, has reported net sales of €751.0 million in the third quarter of 2013, which was up from €716.6 million a year earlier. The company's quarterly operating profit amounted to €61.8 million, which was up from €40.4 million over a year.

Tata Steel Europe has been awarded its first Gold Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence Process Award (SQEP), for its global supply of track shoe profiles.

Romania Holcim's cement/clinker sales fall
The Swiss building materials producer Holcim has announced that its cement and clinker sales in Romania fell by 2.4% in volume in the first nine months of 2013. Also, its sales of aggregates dropped by 21.5% in January-September 2013. Holcim Romania operates two cement factories at Alesd and Campulung, a cement terminal at Turda; 15 concrete plants; three aggregates plants and a cement terminal in Bucharest.

France: Vicat sales down 1.5% in Q3 2013
In the third quarter of 2013, Vicat posted sales of €593 million, down 1.5% due to negative currency effects, but up 3.1% at constant scope and exchange rates.
The French construction materials group's Concrete and Aggregates activity grew 10.8% during the period, while its Cement sales fell 1.6% at constant scope and exchange rates.
Vicat's Other Products and Services activity was down 0.7% during the third quarter of 2013.
Improvement forecast in Britain’s RMC markets
Ready mixed concrete markets in Great Britain are expected to increase by around 5% during 2013, says industry marketing consultancy, BDS Marketing Research.
The company says that it has been a roller- coaster for the industry in recent years with demand for ready mixed concrete falling by 8% last year thus cancelling out the improvement which the industry enjoyed in 2011.

HeidelbergCement says it doubled group profit in the third-quarter to €627 million (€318 million same period 2012) following a solid operational performance concealed by currency effects.
