Austrian construction materials maker Asamer, whose main products are gravel and concrete, is said to have confirmed media reports suggesting that it will restructure. Talks to this effect are expected to be completed by the end of 2013. One of the options considered is splitting off the south-eastern European business, especially that of Croatia, in a separate company.

Buzzi Unicem successfully completes €200mn bond issue
Italian cement and construction material manufacturer Buzzi Unicem has successfully completed the issue of its €200 million equity-linked bond. The value of the bond could yet rise by an additional €20 million, dependent on the greenshoe option. The initial conversion price for the securities has been set at €15.9860, representing a 35% premium on the average weighted trading price, while they will pay a six-monthly coupon of 1.375% a year.
CRH acquires Cemex operations and Dudman's cement import facilities
Cemex's Northern Ireland-based ready-mixed concrete, block and aggregates operations have been taken over by CRH, and the operations have been integrated with CRH's Northstone business. CRH also took over the Dudman group's cement import facilities in the UK.

Lafarge structures and brands its recycled aggregates activity

CRH Swiss Distribution, the Swiss subsidiary of the Irish building materials supplier CRH, has appointed a new CEO. Nicolasn Weinmann was previously COO and a member of CRH Swiss Distribution's management team. The company has new headquarters in Berne. Erik de Groot, interim-CEO, will assume the role of organisational development director at CRH Europe Distribution. CRH Swiss Distribution had a CHF 1.50 billion (€1.21 billion) turnover in 2012 and employs around 2,500 people at 120 sites.
