Turkey has a wealth of stone deposits and its internal aggregates consumption is expected to rise in line with increased development. Lisa Russell reports. Turkey is very lucky in terms of its geology, according to Ozgur Ozturk, who is raw materials manager at Akçansa and represents the Turkish Aggregates Producer's Association (AGÜB) at the European Aggregates Association (UEPG). "There are so many kinds of geological formations and outcrops - it is possible to find any kind of rock in Turkey," he said.

Cat highlights new machines
Caterpillar has been highlighting the features of newly introduced machines including its new E Series hydraulic excavators; G Series off-highway trucks and D8T track-type tractor. Komatsu upgrades heavy excavators
Increased productivity, safety and operator comfort are said to be offered by Komatsu's upgrades to the PC800-8 and PC800LC-8 excavators. The company has said that it has also increased the functionality of its Komtrax machine information system on the machines. The machines weigh in at between 78.8 and 84.7tonnes depending on the specification but are all powered by a 370kW Komastu engine. Low external noise levels are achieved by using a hybrid blade variable speed cooling fan.
