Liebherr rolls out new self-service concrete plant

Liebherr is starting sales of its new self-service concrete plant for building material suppliers.

The plant, available from this summer, is designed to enable suppliers to extend their range of services to end customers, including supplying them more smoothly and efficiently with different types of concrete.

Dinah McLeod appointed chief executive of the Global Cement and Concrete Association

The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has appointed Dinah McLeod as its new chief executive. She succeeds outgoing chief executive Benjamin Sporton.

McLeod most recently served as a director of ‘The B Team’, an innovative and standard-setting non-profit initiative which was established to improve business practices to enhance the well-being of people and the planet.

Lehigh Hanson publishes cement-plant environmental product declarations using PCR

Lehigh Hanson has published cement plant-product specific Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) utilising the new North American Product Category Rule (PCR).

Lehigh says the EPDs show the immediate global warming potential (GWP) in Kg of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent reduction when ordinary portland cement (OPC) also known as GU/Type I/II is switched to EcoCemPLC.

Concrete mixtures incorporating EcoCemPLC could reduce the GWP by as much as 10% below the use of OPC, the company adds.

Tire giant Bridgestone acquires iTrack to offer aggregates businesses mobility-related data

Tire and rubber company Bridgestone has purchased iTrack Solutions from UK-based Transense Technologies to provide its aggregates sector customers with mobility-related data to help improve operations.

Tomohiro Kusano, vice president and senior officer, G-MAA (mining, aircraft, agriculture) solutions business at Bridgestone, says: “This acquisition helps move Bridgestone closer to its goal of becoming a leader in sustainable and advanced mobility solutions.”

JCB unveils world's first hydrogen-fuelled excavator

A father and son from Britain's best-known construction and quarrying equipment family have joined forces to create the world's first hydrogen-powered excavator.

JCB chairman Lord Bamford and his son, Jo Bamford, who runs Ryse Hydrogen and Wrightbus, have spent two years working on the construction industry's first-ever hydrogen-powered excavator and a further year testing the prototype.
