CEMEX has launched a premium single layer asphalt solution for cycle lanes and footpaths, said to have been expertly developed with speed of construction in mind.
VIAPATH can be laid between 25mm and 70mm thick, eliminating the need for multi-layer surfacing which can be costly – both in terms of the materials and labour required.
It also presents significant time savings, which helps to limit the disruption to pedestrians and other road users and achieve a faster rate of job completion.
28 aggregates and mining workers have died after falling from heights in the last decade says MSHA
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has revealed that 28 aggregates and mining workers have died after falling from heights during the last 10 years.
The MSHA says deaths from falls have increased from 8% to 19% of aggregates and mining fatalities in the last two years.
Common causes include working without fall protection on top of trucks, falling from aerial lift baskets and problems when accessing and egressing other mobile equipment.

Cemex recognised by EPA for slashing energy consumption rates in Texas
Cemex USA has been recognised by the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Energy Star Challenge for Industry for cutting energy use at two cement terminals in Texas.
Cemex says it slashed its energy intensity by 53% at its DeZavala terminal and by 39% at its Tyler terminal.
The building materials giant decreased energy use by replacing equipment at the terminals with more energy-efficient versions while also switching to LED energy-efficient light bulbs.

Turner Mining Group has partnered with construction materials company Knife River to provide greenfield development, plant location grading and settling pond construction.
Ben Schwanberg, business development manager at Turner, says: “We have people and machines readily available which will help Knife River avoid staffing challenges and ramp up quickly to meet deadlines for a large scope of work.
"Turner Mining Group is able to provide Knife River a more efficient contracting solution relative to other options.”
Argentinian cement sales down by a third in May 2020 says AFCP
Cement sales dropped 32.8% year-on-year to 648,543 tonnes in Argentina in May 2020.
The country's capital city was especially badly hit.
Mainly because of Covid-19 restrictions, sales dropped 79.9% in the Buenos Aires area.
In the first five months of 2020 cement sales only rose in three regions: Catamarca, Corrientes and Santa Cruz ... by 18.2%, 2.7% and 0.2% respectively.
The figures come from local trade body, the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (Portland Cement Manufacturers Association) which dates back to 1922.
