The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) has welcomed a House of Representatives vote to pass the $1.5 trillion infrastructure Moving Forward Act.
The NSSGA CEO Michael Johnson said: “We are encouraged to see movement on the issue of infrastructure investment.
"This is a mammoth $1.5 trillion infrastructure package, which includes $319 billion in desperately needed funding for our highways and bridges.
"Rebuilding America’s infrastructure is a non-partisan concern and should be a bipartisan effort to work on a solution.
Colombian watchdog SIC denies registration of Colclinker brand
Colombia's industry watchdog (SIC) has denied registration of the brand Colclinker, submitted by local cement company Compania Colombiana de Clincker.
The brand was intended to identify products under class 2 of the International Nice Classification.
Colombian ceramics company Corona had opposed the request due to similarities between the two brands' logos, although SIC ruled that there was no risk of confusion.
SIC concluded that the Colclinker brand could not be registered because an identical brand had already been registered by Cementos Argos.

National Cement fined $148,000 over mercury emission violations
National Cement, a US subsidiary of Vicat, has been fined $148,000 over mercury emissions at its integrated Ragland plant in Alabama.
The fine has been imposed by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), says a report out this week on www.globalcement.com.
The plant is alleged to have violated the mercury emissions rules for 123 days between May 2019 and February 2020.
