Aggregates giant Tarmac signs up to EV100 global initiative on electric vehicles

In an interesting move in the UK, which could have ramifications in the US, aggregates giant Tarmac has signed up to EV100 – a global initiative aimed at bringing together businesses committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs).

Tarmac says the move is part of a focus on carbon reduction and follows a company-wide switch to 100% clean electricity which allows all sites in the UK to use electricity supplied through wind and solar sources.

NSSGA says the time to act is now as it applauds introduction of INVEST In America Act

The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) has commended the US House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee for introducing an infrastructure bill that includes the ROCKS Act. The time to act is now says the association.

NSSGA president Michael W. Johnson, says: “I commend committee chairman Peter DeFazio and his team introducing INVEST in America Act.

"This is an important step forward. As we continue to review the bill text, we greatly appreciate the chairman’s inclusion of the ROCKS Act.

Peckham Industries sets out how it will emerge from the Covid-19 crisis

Aggregates and construction materials supplier Peckham Industries has provided an update on its approach to emerging from the closures resulted from the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement issued online, the company says it will continue to follow all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state-specific guidelines and directives that have been put in place.

“We require that our employees, customers, vendors, and business partners follow all protocols specific to their businesses as well as following our protocols," the statement says.

Metso unveils free 3D online crushing and screening plant configurator

Metso has introduced a drag and drop 3D crushing and screening plant configurator which it says allows users to design more efficient plants on their screens using real-time insights.

Guillaume Lambert, vice president, crushing systems at Metso, says: “Our aim is to help our customers easily test different configurations and operating conditions to see how they affect process performance.

"The tool allows you to either design and simulate a new crushing and screening plant in 3D or test how upgrading your current equipment can improve performance.”

Cemex says "Restarting Together" (RT) will promote projects developed by entrepreneurs and SMEs. The idea is that RT will find and boost ideas that can help to speed up economic recovery and create a more resilient society.
