W.S. Tyler, the screening solutions company in the mining, aggregate and industrial mineral industries, has named Steve Fair as its new Screen Media Division applications specialist.
The company recognised the need to work with its customers to make screen media recommendations based on operation-specific applications and goals, and developed the applications specialist role to meet the demand.

HSS Hire moves to new trade park unit
Hire company HSS Hire is the latest company to become tenants of the successful Sisk Marlin Developments’ Hanworth Trade Park on the Hanworth Trading Estate, some 6km from London Heathrow Airport.
Due to its location, and the other attributes, the park is rapidly becoming a hub for building supplies, DIY and other trade companies, who are keen to utilise features of the site, which includes Sunday opening.

Holcim to set up a new mill in Lampung, Indonesia
Holcim Indonesia plans to capitalise on the growing demand for cement to fuel infrastructure projects in the eastern part of Sumatra by setting up a new mill in Lampung.
Its president director Eamon John Ginley would not to reveal the investment value to construct the new mill as well as the mill's capacity.
Holcim is scheduled to open the new mill in April-June 2015.
Poland’s Libet to invest in factories and gravel pits
Thomas Lehmann, the CEO of Libet, a Polish leader in the paving stone market, has said that in the next few years the company plans to take over three or four factories in areas of the country where it does not currently have a presence.

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe)/(HCME) has announced a change in structure for its official distribution network of Hitachi construction equipment in Spain.

FLSmidth receives third large order from Mongolian customer
FLSmidth has received orders worth approximately US$£43 million (approximately DKK 231 million/€31 million) from the Mongolian company, Mongolyn Alt (MAK) Group, to supply engineering, procurement and site construction services for the Tsagaan Suvarga copper-molybdenum concentrator project.
This greenfield plant, with a capacity of 40,000tonnes/day of ore, will be located in the central part of the proven Oyu Tolgoi south Gobi porphyry copper belt in south-east Mongolia.
Lafarge’s net loss increase in Q1, 2014
Lafarge's net loss has grown by 15% year-on-year for the first quarter of 2014, from €117 million in 2013 to €135 million in 2014 with the company blamed the result on the 'seasonality' of its business and the effect of the variations of the net-of-tax gains and losses on divestments.

Cemex reports first-quarter 2014 results
Cemex’ consolidated net sales reached US$3.6 billion (€2.6 billion) during the first quarter of 2014, an increase of 8% versus the comparable period in 2013, due to the higher prices of products in local currency terms in most of the company’s operations as well as higher volumes in its regions.
Operating EBITDA increased by 3% during the quarter to $535 million versus the same period in 2013 while operating earnings before other expenses, net, in the first quarter increased by 12% to $268 million.

Heidelberg Cement makes loss but outlook is ‘confident’
Heidelberg Cement’s revenue and sales volumes increased in the first quarter of 2014, although it still made a loss for the period.
The German-based global group says that revenue was up by 5.7% year-on-year for the quarter at €2.75 billion compared to €2.6 billion in the first quarter of 2013. Operating income before depreciation (OIBD) was €229 million, a 15.6% increase from €198 million.
The group reported successful price increases and improved cost control as reasons behind the improved takings.
Holcim: “significant increase” in operating profit for Q1, 2014
Holcim has reported a significant increase in operating profit for the first quarter of 2014 along with a further increase in operating margins and like-for-like higher volumes and net sales.
Net sales across the group reached CHF 4.09 billion (€3.36 billion), a fall of 5.4%, which was mainly influenced by negative currency effects. On a like-for-like basis net sales were up 7.8%.

Poland’s Lotos supplies 50,000tonnes of asphalt for A1
According to an announcement by the major Polish oil and petrol concern, Lotos, its company Lotos Asfalt supplied some 50,000tonnes of asphalt for the construction of the A1 motorway from Torun to Kowal.
The company was also the exclusive supplier for the recently-opened 19km stretch from Wloclawek to Kowal.
