Washing: a vital part of aggregate production
Aggregate washing is helping quarries worldwide to improve the quality of end products and offer added value, and in some cases overcome legal rulings. Driving greater use of washing equipment are stricter aggregates specifications and the need to make the best use of all material that is extracted from quarries while keeping an eye on the environment. To meet these demands the latest technologies also offer operators the opportunity to make sure this growth does not make a major impact on water consumption
Breakers increase quarry productivity and reduce costs say operators
According to the European Construction Equipment Committee (CECE), the era of the sledgehammer and the wrecking ball is over in many parts of the world writes Patrick Smith. Instead, sophisticated tools such as crushers, pulverisers, grapples and scrap shears are what are sought after today. ADT/RDT haul truck development sees lot of activity
Changes in the hauling market don’t move with quite the same speed and regularity as the excavating and loading sectors, writes Dan Gilkes. For one thing there are fewer players in the truck market and, in the case of larger rigid trucks at least, there is not as much regulation in terms of engine emissions driving the constant upgrades that we see in smaller equipment. What’s more, many of the larger RDTs are working in territories that do not have as tough emissions standards to comply with as European a
A new Hitachi dealer for Estonia
Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) (HCME) has appointed a new dealer for its customers in Estonia.
The announcement follows the signing of an agreement with Rotator, the official HCME dealer in Finland. Rotator Estonia will offer the entire range of Hitachi construction equ
Crushing and screening looks to cost and energy efficiency
Soaring, unstable fuel prices create demand for plants that are increasingly energy efficient and for new ways to operate. This is the view of Jarmo Vuorenpää, project manager at Metso Mining and Construction, who was outlining the design process of his company’s new crusher/screen. “However, you can only increase the efficiency of a single machine up to a certain limit. Going beyond that point requires out-of-the box thinking and new innovations,” continued Vuorenpää.
