Doosan's DL550 wheeled loader for Middle/East Africa

The new generation DL550 wheeled loader from Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment has been launched. A top-of-the-range model in the company’s new family of wheeled loaders, it is intended for markets in the Middle East and Africa. With a bucket capacity of 5.4m3, the loader is designed to meet a wide range of material handling needs from loading and transporting granular material (such as sand and gravel) to industrial, mining and quarrying applications.

Doosan ADTs work on Kenyan dam project

In Kenya, a fleet of eight Doosan MT41 articulated dump trucks (ADTs) is being used by Frabo & Co to carry rock down the steep slopes of a nearby quarry and on to the site of the Chemususu dam project. The aim of the scheme, in the Rift Valley 250km north-east of the capital, Nairobi, is to make access to safe water much easier. Completion is scheduled soon.

Cemex to supply cement for River Nile projects in Egypt

Cemex is to supply cement for a new government funded project on the River Nile, Egypt, a new hydroelectric plant and tidal barrage with completion set for 2017. The project will generate 32MW of energy and improve irrigation while helping to provide water and renewable energy to the cities of Assiut, Minya, Beni Suef, Fayoum and Giza. Cemex is working with the project contractor to carry out tests for the optimum cement mix composition for the project.

Indocement's cement sales rise 12.3% in 2012

According to Tju Lie Sukanto, the  financial director of Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa (Indocement), the cement producer has sold a total of 18 million tonnes in 2012, a growth of 12.3%. Domestic sales, accounting for 90% of sales, were a record high at 17.9 million tonnes, up 16.1% from 15.4 million tonnes sold in 2011.

Caterpillar has opened a parts distribution centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to strengthen its parts support and aftermarket service throughout East Africa and the Middle East.
