Italcementi aim to invest €100mn in Rezzato site
Italian cement manufacturer Italcementi has revealed plans to invest more than € 100 million in its plant in Rezzato, Lombardy. The firm is thought to have set up talks with various banking groups regarding financial support for the renovation works, including UBI Banca and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The deal may be sealed within the course of the next few weeks.
Mittal to buy A American and Lafarge UK assets?
Chairman and chief executive of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, Laskshmi Mittal, is reportedly bidding for assets put up for sale by Anglo American and Lafarge UK. Sky News claims Mittal, whose wealth was estimated at £12.7bn, is bidding for the assets which have been ordered to be sold by the UK’s Competition Commission as a pre-condition for the completion of the Tarmac (Anglo’s UK business) and Lafarge UK merger.

CRH terminates negotiations in India
CRH has announced that negotiations with Jaypee Cement Corporation (Jaypee) regarding the possible purchase by CRH of an equity stake in Jaypee’s Gujarat cement business have been terminated as the parties were unable to agree terms. CRH acknowledges the cooperation of the Jaypee management team throughout the negotiations and due diligence process.
Bell appoints national accounts manager
Bell Equipment UK has appointed aggregates industry professional Robin Piper as its new national accounts sales manager, and he will be responsible for handling key customer accounts across the UK, primarily those operating in the quarrying and opencast mining sectors. Cemex announces pricing of US $ 1.5 billion in senior secured notes
Cemex has announced the pricing of US $ 1.5 billion in senior secured US dollar notes. The notes being issued by Cemex Finance LLC will bear interest at an annual rate of 9.375% and mature in 2022. Cemex says they will be issued at par and will be callable commencing on their 5th anniversary. The closing of the offering is expected to occur on October 12, 2012, subject to satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
Doosan extends hydraulic breaker range
Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment has added two new models to the company’s range of hydraulic breakers for use on Doosan wheeled and crawler excavators from 14-38tonnes.
