Philippines: Holcim to invest US$40mn to raise cement capacity
A total of US$40 million (€35.87 million) is being invested by Holcim Philippines to raise capacity.
The money will largely be used for the de-bottlenecking of current facilities. Such move will be able to increase the output of cement to 10 million tonnes through 2017.
According to Eduardo A Sahagun, CEO and president of Holcim, financing the capacity expansion is not an issue as the company has ample cash and very little debt.

Asia Cement posted a 15.8% on-year drop in its January-March 2015 revenue to CNY 1.35 billion (€194.71 million/US$217.10 million).
Also, the Taiwan-based company reported a 99.97% decline in its profit to CNY 37,000 (€5,344.33/$5,959.07) during the quarter.
Holcim Indonesia sales fall in Q1 2015
Sales of cement maker Holcim Indonesia declined by 4.5% from a year ago to IDR 2.25 trillion (€154.76 million/US$173.11 million) in the first quarter of 2015.
Cost of sales for the company under the Holcim Group of Switzerland expanded by 3% to IDR 1.72 trillion.
Its net income decreased from IDR 323.60 billion to IDR 32.70 billion due to increasing costs and lower demand.

Vulcan Materials report Q1 2015 trading loss of US$39.8 million
Vulcan Materials, America’s largest producer of construction aggregates, reported a Q1 2015 loss of US$39.8 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Birmingham, Alabama-based company said it had a loss of 30 cents. Losses, adjusted to extinguish debt and to account for discontinued operations, came to 16 cents per share.
